Pain and Pain Management

At least 1 hour of pain and pain management education required per renewal.

One-time requirement. 1 hour on identifying victims of human trafficking.

Required per renewal period. Training on recognizing and addressing implicit bias in healthcare.

Additional Notes

Michigan requires 25 hours, which is slightly above the national average. The implicit bias and human trafficking requirements are relatively new additions. Prescribing providers must also complete controlled substance and opioid-specific training.
