Renewal Deadline

Licenses renew every 2 years. Renewal date is based on birth month and year.

Mandatory Topics

Nursing Jurisprudence and Ethics

At least 2 hours required before the end of every third two-year licensing period (every 6 years).

Human Trafficking Prevention

Required for all nurses who provide direct patient care.

Additional Notes

Nurses whose practice includes older/geriatric populations must complete 2 hours on geriatric care. Emergency room nurses must complete 2 hours on forensic evidence collection. APRNs with prescriptive authority need 5 hours in pharmacotherapeutics and 4 hours on pain management and prescription of opioids. All mandatory hours count toward the 20-hour total.
