Renewal Deadline

Licenses renew every 2 years. Renewal dates vary based on license type.

Mandatory Topics

Virginia does not require specific mandatory topics. All CE hours may be in topics relevant to your practice area.

Additional Notes

RNs need 30 hours; LPNs need 15 hours. No mandatory topics for general renewal. Prescribers of controlled substances must complete 2 hours on topics related to pain management or the responsible prescribing of opioids during each renewal.
